Club Gem: Independent Project

Case: Founder and creative director

in 2016 Stichting de Verre Bergen and Rotterdam Festivals asked Sophie Bargmann to come up with a cultural concept for the city of Rotterdam. This project was called N’COR. In collaboration with partners Gemeente Rotterdam, Amvest, Kunstuitleen Rotterdam, Stichting De Nieuwe Lichting, Rotown and Heineken, Club Gem was launched. A pop up platform for art, culture and entertainment where talented artists are invited to show their work to the big public.

Club Gem x Kunstuitleen Rotterdam

The launch of Club Gem in the summer of 2016 was in the formerly empty building of Kunstuitleen Rotterdam at Nieuwe Binnenweg. We kick offed with opening festival KITS, in collaboration with Stichting de Nieuwe Lichting and Immanuel Spoor, with a multidisciplinary event presenting an art exhibition, live music, and pop up cinema. Our pop up space had a bar, restaurant and terrace in collaboration with Rotown and Brand Bier.

Club Gem x Industriegebouw x De Geheime Winter Tuin

In the winter of 2017 the founders of De Geheime Tuin asked us to organize the opening event of De Geheime Wintertuin in the formerly empty space in Het Industriegebouw which later turned in restaurant By Jarmusch. Club Gem hosted an exhibition, live art performances and live music acts by artists like Rotganzen, Nas Bami and Sevdaliza.

Club Gem x Glashaven

In the summer of 2017 Club Gem opened as pop up location at Glashaven 42 on Wijnhaveneiland in Rotterdam. A 350m2 former office space with big white walls turned out as the perfect location for our events and exhibitions. Our partner Amvest will develop real estate project Glashaventoren at this place in the near future. Club Gem partnered with Brand Bier and organized events with live music, entertainment, bar and a pop up pizzeria. Furthermore, Club Gem hosted exhibitions like “Summer Show” with 25 talented artists from Rotterdam, presenting a variety of artworks, including photography, prints, design objects and paintings.
